Habb Fort in Ibb
The Habb Fort is located at Ba’adan,
one ofthe directorates of the Ebb Governorate whichlie to the east of Ba’adan.
It rises 2500 meters above sea level so the region is characterized by mild weather all the year round, with
heavy rain accompanied by a refreshing chill in the air and fogs over the
highlands.
|
The Habb Fort is considered one
of the most famous and impregnable forts in Yemen with steep sides that are
impossible to climb.
ThisFort is full of monuments,
and was the seat of the Himiari chief Yareem bin Zo R’aeen who was later buried
in the fort. It was taken by King Al Muzafar Youssef bin Omar bin Ali Rasul in
648 A.H. after his father was killed, and used as a base to launch attacks to
capture the mountainous areas.

|
The fort is enclosed by a
partly ruined, stone fence, which includes semicircular watchtowers. The fort
contains a pool, water tank, granary, a small mosque, and is itself surrounded
by villages and hills covered with trees laden with ripe fruits.
Everything in this governorate
embodies beauty. It’s almost like a living image embracing the mountain ranges,
an impression that is reinforced at night when the villages begin to twinkle in
the hilltops, almost like they are chatting with the stars.
